6 residents, 3 firefighters injured after blaze in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Nine people were sent to the hospital after an overnight fire in Fall River.
ABC 6 News crews at the scene witnessed smoke coming from third floor windows of a multi-family home on Alden Street.
The Fall River Fire Department said the blaze started on the first floor just after 9 p.m., and made its way throughout the three story building.
ABC 6 News was told that six residents of the building and three firefighters were injured in the fire. One of those residents, and elderly woman, is in critical condition.
She was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
The building is a total loss, officials said. There were four adults and one child displaced due to the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
