Firefighters and police responded to reports of a vehicle that crashed into a playground at Child Care Plus on Tiogue Avenue around 4:30 p.m.

Chief Cady said there were between 12 to 15 kids in the playground when the car drove through the fence.

Four children were taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, and one child was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Officials said the five children, ages seven and eight, had non-life-threatening injuries such as scrapes and bruises.
