5 displaced, cat dead after house fire in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Five people are without a home and one cat died after a fire broke out on the third floor of a multi-family home in Pawtucket Tuesday night.

According to the Pawtucket Fire Department’s Chief, the fire began in a third floor bedroom and spread up into the attic of the Pidge Avenue home.

An ABC 6 News crew saw dozens of firefighters on scene around 9:30 p.m.

A building inspector was called to assess the damage, but officials say nobody will be staying in the home Tuesday night.

No further information was immediately released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
