5 people arrested in ‘street takeover’ in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Police Department said five people were arrested after a “street takeover” event on Nov. 2.

Police arrested 34-year-old Christopher Frias, 24-year-old Dylan Ploude, 20-year-old Aaron Pimental, 19-year-old Yethziel Medina, and 36-year-old Jerron Butler.

According to police, groups of 50 to 100 people on dirt bikes, ATVs, scooters, and motorcycles gathered on multiple streets between 3:15 p.m. and 6 p.m.

During this time, police alleged these groups were “disregarding traffic laws while performing reckless stunts,” which police said put lives at risk.

Police described the incident as a “street takeover,” in which groups allegedly block streets, operate recklessly, and hinder safe travel in the streets.

Officials said these takeovers can result in accidents, injuries, property damage, and emergency response delays.
