The parade is set to start at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

NEWPORT, RI. (WLNE)- Over 90 boats from the Newport community are gearing up to participate in a memorial parade on Sunday; paying tribute to members of the community who died in 2020 and 2021.

The parade comes after a year of the pandemic prohibiting in-person memorial services.

The Newport Memorial Boat Parade is set to take place on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.

A spokesperson for the parade says the boats will fly ‘Dress Ship’ flags to honor loved ones, colleagues and community members who died from the virus.
