WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE) — Mystic Aquarium announced that six grey seals will be released on Wuskenau Town Beach on Wednesday after weeks of rehabilitation.

According to Mystic Aquarium, the seals were rescued on Block Island after being found entangled in fishing gear and marine debris in March and April.

Mystic Aquarium said there has been a “sharp increase in entanglements” in New England, citing the 24 seals rescued by the Animal Rescue Program since the start of 2025.

The seals are scheduled to “galumph” into the ocean at 9 a.m. on May 21.
