6 people displaced after house fire in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Fire Department said 6 people were displaced and one firefighter was taken to the hospital after a house fire Saturday morning.

Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on Holly Street just after 6:30 a.m.

“The crew of Engine 8 deployed multiple hose lines and firefighters were able to attack the exterior and interior fire simultaneously to prevent further extension,” read in a Facebook post.

Four adults and two children are being helped by the American Red Cross.

No residents were injured, however, the firefighter was transported to St. Luke Hospital and has since been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
