7 arrested after altercation between police, juveniles in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River Police say seven people were arrested after an altercation between juveniles and officers.

A video shared with ABC 6 News shows the chaos, where dozens of people are seen in an altercation with several officers attempting to make arrests.

According to Sergeant Moses Pereira, on Wednesday at approximately 3:10 p.m., police received a call from inside CVS Pharmacy on President Avenue reporting juveniles causing a disturbance.

When officers arrived on the scene, they said the group of juveniles went into the McDonalds restaurant. Officers then entered the restaurant to ensure no additional disturbances arose.

While inside the McDonalds, officers were informed by management that the juveniles were not welcome inside the store because of fighting that had happened prior to them entering.

Sgt. Pereira said as officers told the juveniles to disperse, they became confrontational and refused to comply with verbal warnings to leave the area.

As officers attempted to make an arrest for trespassing, the group of juveniles then began interfering with officers.

In total, police said seven people were arrested after the incident.

An increased police presence will be in the area Thursday to ensure no issues arise.
