74-year-old pedestrian dies after being struck by car

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — The Attleboro Police Department shared that a 74-year-old male died after being struck by a vehicle on Pleasant St.

Officials responded to a report of a motor vehicle versus pedestrian crash around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The 74-year-old male, identified as Basil Bletsis of Attleboro, sustained significant injuries and later died at Sturdy Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped, and has been cooperative with investigators.

After investigating, it was found that the driver was traveling eastbound on Pleasant St. when it struck the victim.

No criminal charges have been filed against the driver.

The investigation is ongoing.
