78-year-old man dies after being struck by van in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A 78-year-old man has died after being struck by a van in Providence on Thursday night.

According to Providence Police Department representative Kristy Dos Reis, the incident occurred at the intersection of Branch Avenue and Abram Street.

Michael Demaula was struck by the van and was transported to an area hospital where he died overnight from his injuries.

The driver of the van remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, which is ongoing by the Providence police traffic bureau.
