89th Massachusetts State Police training troop to graduate Thursday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts State Police will swear in 75 troopers of the 89th Recruit Training Troop Thursday.
The new troopers will graduate from academy training and be pinned with their badges at a ceremony at the MassMutual Center in Springfield at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Addressing the new troop will be Governor Maura Healey, Colonel Jon Mawn, Jr., Interim Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, Detective Lieutenant Jeffrey Johnson, Commandant of the Massachusetts State Police Academy, and State Representative Carlos Gonzalez of Springfield.
Top performers of the class will be recognized and a member of the 89th Recruit Training Troop will also address the class.
The six months of extensive training each trainee has gone through includes criminal law, firearms law, criminal investigation, ethics, de-escalation techniques and more.
All troopers will be assigned to barracks and begin their careers as road troopers.
