Fall River police have arrested Vincent Valois, 34, three times since Aug. 18. These three booking photos were provided by the Fall River Police Department.

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River police arrested a man who was stabbed in the city over the weekend — marking the second time he has been stabbed and then arrested in a three-month span.

Police said 34-year-old Vincent Valois was arrested after being stabbed on Pine Street Sunday.

Police originally responded to a call that a man was suffering from multiple stab wounds inside a car on North Main Street.

When officers arrived, police said Valois told them he was stabbed inside a home on Pine Street.

Detectives investigated the incident, and according to police, determined Valois drove to an apartment belonging to 43-year-old William Paiva even though he was not welcome there.

Police accuse Valois of then entering the apartment, stealing $100, stealing several prescription pills, and then trying to flee.

Police said Paiva chased Valois outside and a fight began.

That’s when Valois was stabbed in the neck and back, according to police.

When Valois tried to get in a car to leave the area, police said Paiva slashed multiple tires on his car.

Both were arrested — Valois is charged with breaking and entering in the daytime, which is a felony, along with unarmed robbery and assault and battery.

Paiva is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious damage to a motor vehicle.

The previous stabbing incident occurred on Aug. 19.

In that case, police responded to a report of a man stabbed on Second Street at Wade Street.

Upon arrival, police said they found Valois bleeding from his leg.

Police said he was acting belligerent, refusing commands, and advanced toward officers in an “aggressive manner.”

Officers eventually used a TASER to try to subdue him, police said.

While he was being evaluated for his injuries, police said Valois was found to have powdered cocaine and crack cocaine in his possession.

Valois was arrested after declining medical treatment in that case, police said.

Police had also previously arrested Valois on Second Street for trespassing a day earlier, on Aug. 18, on South Main Street.

In that case, police said Valois ran from officers before being arrested, leading to the injury of a police officer involved in the pursuit.

At the time, police said Valois had multiple warrants out for his arrest and had a lengthy criminal history.

There’s a lot going on in the weather department, starting with the fact that in the Caribbean, Hurricane Melissa has reached Category 5 status. The storm looks like it will make landfall in Jamaica by Tuesday afternoon, still as a Category 5, before making a second landfall in Cuba and a third in Turks and Caicos. The impacts of this storm will be catastrophic for parts of the Caribbean, namely Jamaica, with storm surge of 10 feet or higher and rainfall of 30″ or greater possible. The storm currently has winds of 160 mph, and gusts of 195 mph as well.

Back here at home, we’ve had a cool start to the day. We woke up to the 20s and 30s, and will have highs in the low 50s by the afternoon. We’ll start off mostly sunny, but clouds increase throughout the day. We could even see an ocean-effect shower in the evening. Any rain will be very, very limited, but it’s not something to count out.

Our ocean-effect showers will continue Tuesday and Wednesday, staying limited both days. Highs will be in the low 50s both days, and it will be windy as well.

Thursday will be in the upper 50s, but heavy rain returns by Thursday evening with our next storm. That rain will last from Thursday evening through early Friday morning, with a few lingering showers during the morning commute. The good news is that the rain looks largely gone by the time the kids are getting ready for trick-or-treating! It will, however, still be windy and cool with highs in the low to mid 50s.

High pressure currently centered over the Great Lakes will keep us on the dry side through Tuesday as it slowly lifts northward into Canada. However, this will be the cause for cooler than normal temperatures, low 50s, through the upcoming week. As winds turn more Northeasterly during the week a lot of clouds will be around that can also create an isolated shower on the Cape.

Later in the week we will be seeing a significant storm coming up the Appalachians for Thursday into Friday morning, bringing periods of wind-swept rain. At the moment it does look like this system will lift through the area during Friday to allow for some drying by the trick or treating hours, but it will remain windy into Saturday.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The man accused in a 2023 Providence Mother’s Day murder has been convicted in Providence County Superior Court.

Luis Sepulveda, 53, was found guilty of one count of first-degree murder, one count of discharge of a firearm resulting in death and several other charges Thursday.

On May 14, 2023, at approximately 11:04 p.m., Providence police responded to a call of a shooting on Manton Avenue, arriving to find victim Angel Rodriguez, 44, on the ground.

Rodriguez had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 11:36 p.m.

According to witnesses, Sepulveda and Rodriguez had argued earlier in the day at the Mother’s Day party at the home.

They resolved the issue peacefully.

A fight broke out later in the garage at the address, and Sepulveda produced a gun, fired two shots in the air and then shot Rodriguez in the chest.

Sepulveda fled the scene in a minivan and was stopped by Rhode Island state troopers on Route 95 south and placed in custody.

A handgun was found in the door of the minivan driver’s door and five spent shell casings were found at the scene.

These rounds were determined to have come from Sepulveda’s firearm through ballistic analysis.

Further analysis also found his DNA on the weapon.

There is no word on when Sepulveda will face sentencing.
