Boys State Open Tournament Sweet Sixteen Highlights from all Eight Games

At RIC, Defending state champion LaSalle began the state open tournament with a win over East Greenwich, 55 to 37.

In the second game, East Providence held off St. Ray’s, 54 to 50.  LaSalle plays East Providence Sunday at 6:00 pm at Brown.

At CCRI in Warwick, Hendricken advanced by beating Johnston, 77 to 48.  Preston Santos scored a game high 24, Justin Mazzulla had 22 points.

In the second game, Portsmouth defeated North Kingstown, 63 to 58.  Chris Herren scored a game high 29 to lead the Patriots.  Portsmouth will face Hendricken Sunday at 2:00 pm at Brown.

At Brown’s Pizzitola Center, Classical cruised to a 70 to 45 win over Shea.  

In the second game, Westerly held off Chariho, 65 to 56.  Jacee Hamlin scored a game high 19 points.  Westerly will play Classical Sunday at noon at Brown.

At Bryant, Smithfield defeated Mt. Pleasant, 70 to 54.  

In the second game, Narragansett beat Pilgrim, 65 to 47.  Smithfield faces Narragansett Sunday at 4:00 pm at Brown.
