East Providence hockey had a down year, finishing with an 0 and 18 record. However, the season was much more important than the Townies record.
Captain Brynne Costa and brother Richard were playing to honor their dad who passed away last September after a heart attack during a recreation hockey game in North Smithfield.
Richard hadn’t played the game since his days in youth hockey. This year’s team needed a goalie and Richard decided to take on the challenge of playing the position his dad once played at East Providence High.
The result was a story that inspired everyone.
