NEW BEDFORD, MA – It was an emotional evening for the people who came to light candles Friday night, in Sabrina DaSilva’s honor.

"Losing my sister is the hardest thing that I have ever felt,” said DaSilva’s sister.

There were tears as family and friends paid their respects, and remembered the bubbly, determined young woman.

“She teaches us that even in the hardest moments, don’t give up,” said one of her old college professors.

Anthony Lopes, a cousin, told ABC6 News, "She was always full of life, and now she has no life."

Sabrina DaSilva was just 19 years old when she was murdered on July 3rd.  She was the mother of a two year old girl and lived at home.

"I never thought that the community would give such support to my family,” her sister said addressing the crowd at the vigil. “I didn’t think we were that important. But here you all are today."

The group huddled together, remembering the young mother, but also demanding justice.  The killer has not been caught or identified.

"You can run for as long as you want, but I can guarantee you, you will get caught and you will be brought to justice,” said Nathan Dantas.

DaSilva was murdered on Sunday in her driveway after grocery shopping.  She was shot multiple times.

"You know people say now she’s at rest, she’s at peace. No she’s not. Not until its said and done. And over,” Carol Almeida, a family friend told ABC6 News.

DaSilva’s mother did not attend.
