Police investigating physical altercation during high school soccer match

TIVERTON, R.I. – Tiverton police are investigating a physical altercation that happened Tuesday night during a boys soccer match.

Police responded to Tiverton High School for an altercation on Tuesday during a soccer match between Tiverton High School and Providence Country Day, according to Lt. Brendan McKinnon.

Not many details are being provided at this time but Police Chief Patrick Jones told the Newport Daily News that police reviewed photos that surfaced from the incident and some were “pretty graphic as far as behavior.”

It’s unclear if the altercation happened in the crowd or between players.

Lt. McKinnon said the incident is currently under investigation.
