Teen mother fatally shot in New Bedford

A 19-year-old mother was gunned down outside of her home in New Bedford Sunday night.
Friends and neighbors tell ABC 6 News that Sabrina DaSilva had just come back from the grocery store when she was shot.
"Very sad. It’s a sad sad day,” said Carol Almeida.
Almeida helped to set up a small memorial with flowers, candles and a blue ribbon in the parking lot where DaSilva was killed on Bedford Street.
She says she’s known the young mother for four years.
"She’s bubbly a normal 19-year-old girl, works, goes to school,” said Almeida. “She’s in college, takes care of her two year old daughter, lives with her mother."
Almeida says that DaSilva spoke four languages and wanted to be a court translator.
The shooting happened around 10pm on Sunday. One neighbor reports hearing at least four gunshots.
"I got scared to look out my window because I didn’t know if somebody was still out there. So, I went to my door and I peaked out and I saw the lady on the ground,” said Lisa Rose."They have cameras on the building and they said that that on the cameras it showed a guy talking with her and I guess they had a little altercation.”
"Her family is just devastated they just want justice for her. Hopefully that person gets caught,” said Almeida.
New Bedford Police, Massachusetts State Police Detectives and the D.A.’s office are investigating.
