T.F. Green Airport Adds International Flight

SATA airlines landed at T.F. Green Airport Thursday for the first time since 2010. The flights go to and from the Azores.

"For some in southeastern mass and Rhode Island it’s a great. For people living out on the islands it’s much more easier to get home here in the U.S.from T.F. Green," says Robert Camara.

Camara is A Rehoboth mass native but has been living in Portugal for over 23 years. Family and friends from the area were able to greet him as he returned home for the first time this year.

"It makes it easier to be able to travel more times," adds Camara.

The seasonal flight will run June through September and will take off once a week on Thursdays. This destination is the latest of the 3 international flights out of to T.F. green, offering 230 seats.

"It’s great news for us because it allows us to have a greater market share and give this a new destination that is a gateway to other destinations as well," says Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian.

"This is such a natural match for Rhode Island Southeast Massachusetts with the demographics with Azores in Portugal right this is an airline that it’s vibrant and exciting it’s a tourist destination just like Rhode Island is we are so excited to have them back," adds Peter Frazier Interim President and CEO of the RI Airport Corp.
