A new test could let people know when the waters are safe for swimming a whole lot sooner.

Dave McLaughlin, the executive director of Clean Ocean Access, a non profit organization is teaming up with the Department to Health to test out new technology that gets results back in just 3 hours. Having the three hour test will allow there to be a reduction in the amount of beach closures which should help tourism and it should also improve public health.   The program is being tried out for ten weeks and so far McLaughlin has taken dozens of samples.

.The new testing program is made possible because of a grant.  The hope is to get the faster test in place just in time for the opening of the 2017 summer season.
