A massive fire broke out Friday night at a dairy farm in Westport.

Deputy Chief Manley says the fire started in a small barn at around 10:20 p.m.

The fire spread quickly on to a couple of larger barns where the dairy cows were kept.

According to Dept. Chief Manley, approximately 30 cows were in one of the barns and it is believed most of them escaped, but some have yet to be accounted for.

There were no injuries to the fire crew or farm staff.

Members of the State Fire Marshall and Westport Fire Department are on the scene investigating the cause if the fire.
