Fall River Officer charged with several counts of domestic offenses, placed on leave

FALL RIVER, MASS. (WLNE)— A Fall River police officer was arrested and detained after a domestic incident at his home on Sunday.
Departments supervisors responded to the dispute and arrested the officer.
The officer is being charged for several counts of domestic related offenses. He has been relieved of duty and has been placed on leave.
The supervisor assigned to the Major Crimes Division will be working with the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office on any follow-up investigation which may be needed.
In their disclosure, the department stated “The Fall River Police Department understands the complex issues in play with domestic incidents, and the importance of a comprehensive investigation. While it is particularly concerning that an officer is being charged with a crime, it is important to note that a thorough and impartial investigation is being conducted in to this matter.”
The name of the officer and victim is not released at this time.
