By News Staff
The man charged in the murder of a Supreme Court Justice’s younger brother will spend his life in jail.
23-year-old Matthew Marcotte, of Rehoboth, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of murder and one count of conspiracy to commit felony assault for the February 2015 stabbing death of 53-year-old William McKenna.
McKenna is the younger brother of Rhode Island Supreme Court Justice Maureen McKenna Goldberg.
Prosecutors say Marcotte’s co-conspirator, 22-year-old Rolando Brooks, knocked McKenna to the ground outside of a Pawtucket convenience store and punched him in the face, then Marcotte stabbed him in the neck.
Marcotte will face 10 years on the conspiracy charge simultaneously with the murder charge life sentence.
Brooks was also charged with murder and conspiracy.
