Atlantic 10 Announces Pairing, Rams to Host Dayton, UMass, and VCU

KINGSTON, R.I. — The Atlantic 10 home and away matchups for the 2016-17 season have been announced by the conference office.  The league will once again play an 18-game conference slate, with schools facing each opponent at least once and five teams twice.

Rhode Island will host seven of the top eight schools in the 2015-16 A-10 standings at the Thomas M. Ryan Center this coming season.  The Rams finished an injury-plagued 2015-16 campaign in seventh place with a 9-9 mark in league play and a 17-15 overall record.

The five teams that URI will play in a home/away format in 2016-17 are as follows: Davidson, Dayton, La Salle, Massachusetts, and Saint Joseph’s.

Additionally, Rhody will host the following teams in Kingston: St. Bonaventure, VCU, George Washington, and Fordham.  Five of the nine A-10 teams visiting the Ryan Center this season ranked among the top 50 RPI in 2015-16 and six of the nine were among the top 75.

The Rams will play single road contests at Duquesne, George Mason, Richmond, and Saint Louis.  Rhode Island’s complete 2016-17 schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date.
