UPDATE: Teachers fired after scathing messages between teachers at BVP leaked

Several teachers from Blackstone Valley Prep High School in Cumberland have now been fired after scores of scathing internal messages were leaked for everyone to see.

Here are some examples of the hateful words,  "Man I wish we could hit them," "What a loser" and "F******* idiot."

"The worst thing is, you know they are going to internalize some of that. And, that’s what scares me most,” said Alice Deighan whose 16-year-old daughter was mentioned multiple times. She tells us she can not believe teachers would act like this.

"Hudson for example has difficulty spelling. She’s an intelligent kid, but spelling is an issue for her. And, she is very embarrassed about it. So, for her to have her own fears being joked about among teachers she was devastated,” said Deighan.

The 10th grader’s dad talking to ABC 6 News via FaceTime.

"I was floored I mean, I couldn’t believe that it was true I couldn’t believe that people would ever go into education if they thought that this is the way they thought about the people they were trying to educate,” said Dr. Scout.

Dr. Scout saying there’s one message in particular that he can’t get out of his mind.

"Which basically said that she’s never going to get into the college that she really wants to get into,” said Dr. Scout. “The same one that we went to  because she’s not even smart enough to graduate High School."

BVP is scheduled to host two meetings for parents on Monday. One at 8:30 AM the other at 6:30 PM.

The teachers involved were first suspended, but late Tuesday the school fired the employees, releasing the following statement:

"On Monday, June 20th, senior leadership at Blackstone Valley Prep learned that of disrespectful and disparaging written comments about students and families were allegedly written by some of our high school staff. We immediately launched a full internal investigation which included interviewing the alleged teachers involved. That investigation is ongoing.

Late yesterday, Blackstone Valley Prep ended its relationship with three high school teachers after confirming the allegations were in fact true. They are no longer employed at Blackstone Valley Prep.

I want to be crystal clear, many of the comments written are deeply disturbing and offensive.  As the founding school leader, executive director of the organization, and as a parent of three scholars in the program, I am deeply saddened and disappointed.  Parents put their trust in teachers and the school, and that trust has been violated.

To help our school community heal, we held a school-wide community meeting during which students were able to share their feelings and their concerns.  We also had several counselors on the high school campus present to support students and staff during the last day of school (yesterday).

The BVP Board of Directors released its own statement today. “The remarks made by teachers are absolutely inexcusable.  Our primary concern is to work to repair and heal our relationships with students and families.  The board supports the actions Jeremy and his leadership team have taken and will continue to work with them to strongly address the issues that have been raised.”

We have a great deal of work to do to build trust in our community.  We are committed to doing just that."
