Small plane crashes off Rhode Island coast

A small plane has crashed off the coast of Westerly.

Officers were on the scene of the crash Saturday around 12:45 near the small beachfront community of Weekapaug.

The Coast Guard tells ABC6 the pilot was able to make it out of the plane safely.
