Bear captured in Providence

The bear that was spotted by multiple residents in a Cranston has been caught in Providence.

On Sunday, the bear was safely tranquilized near Rhode Island Hospital then transported to a wooded area near the Connecticut border by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. The bear was cared for and given water before being released. 

The bear was first spotted near in the areas of Mapleton Street and Forest Avenue by Cranston residents Saturday night. Police did a search in Cranston, but found nothing.
