Police are investigating after a woman was found stabbed in an apartment building.

Woonsocket police were dispatched to a stabbing at an apartment building on West School Street early Wednesday afternoon.

Officials found an unidentified woman lying on the floor with a stab wound to the abdomen.

Police say 32-year-old Carissa Chatlien of East Providence had a heated argument with the victim, causing her to eject the victim from the apartment. The victim then returned to the residence to retrieve her belongings.

As the victim made her way out of the apartment, Chatlien blamed her for taking too long and knifed her.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. Charlien was taken into custody at the scene and charged with Assault with a dangerous weapon.

As of now, the victim’s condition is stable. Charlien will be arraigned in the 6th district court Thursday.
