URI Rams Stun Top Seeded South Carolina in NCAA Regional

The URI rams shocked host South Carolina, edging the Gamecocks 5 to 4 in the opening game of the NCAA Regional.  The win was the Rams first ever victory in the NCAA Tournament.

After trailing 4-0, the Rams by using back-to-back home runs by Ryan Olmo and Brett McManus to cut the lead in half.  McManus knocked in three runs to Rhody rally for the victory.

Starter Tyler Wilson had a great night, striking out 15 in going 7-plus innings.  Wilson threw a career high 125 pitches to get the win.

The Rams now play UNC-Wilmington in a winner’s bracket game on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
