Getting to the air show in Quonset is on tap to be a little less stressful for drivers this year.  The RI Department of Transportation is rolling out a new pilot program offering free trains to Quonset from Providence and Warwick to help improve those massive backups on the roads.

The DOT, the RI National Guard and the MBTA are now joining forces on this new program.  On June 11th and 12th, Amtrak trains will depart from the Providence train station on Gaspee St. at 8:44 in the morning, and from the T.F. Green station on Jefferson Blvd at 10:45 am.  Spectators will be dropped off right at the show.  The trains will leave Quonset at 3 pm and 4:50 pm in the afternoon.

The trains will serve about 2800 people. If everything goes as planned, the free train service will become a familiar part of the event.

Free parking will also be available at the state offices parking lot and the T. F. Green station parking garage.
