MassDOT announce eighth annual street smarts high school video contest

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) – The Massachusetts Department of Traffic (MassDOT) is announcing the winners to this year’s Annual Safe Streets Trips High School Video Contest.
The winners of the freshman-sophomore category go to Isabella Dugan, Michael Golden, Molly Morrison, and Nate Reilly from Newton North High School for “Drive Safe America” . Honorable mentions went to Maddy Morgan, Sara Duran, Tacy Carter, and Ella Puglielli from Maynard High School for “Know the Bike Signals”.
The runner up of the freshman-sophomore category goes to Camille Lombardi from Apponequet Regional High School in Lakeville for “Respectful Roads”.
The winners of the junior-senior grand prize went to Daniel Kramer, David Hirschorn, Ethan Horvitz, and Jack Glassman from Sharon High School for “Be a Bike Friendly Driver” with honorable mentions to Natalie Gonsalves and Salnave Esterlin from Dartmouth High School for “Road Safety for Bikes & Automobiles”.
The runner up of the junior-senior category went to Owen White, Carson Winslow, and Joe Forgione from Nauset Regional High School in North Eastham for their film “Bike Angel”.

“The Safe Streets Smart Trips High School Video Contest is always a highlight of MassDOT’s annual Moving Together conference,” said Transportation Secretary and CEO Jamey Tesler. “It’s always a pleasure to see how students across the Commonwealth combine their creativity with important peer-to-peer messaging regarding roadway safety as we work to decrease pedestrian and bicyclist injuries and fatalities statewide.”
