Friend of pregnant Taunton stabbing victim speaks out

A close friend of the pregnant waitress stabbed in the Taunton rampage is speaking out.

Heidi Pinto was fighting back tears as she spoke with ABC 6 News about the woman she calls her best friend, 26-year-old Sheenah Savoy.

"I called her sister and that’s when I found out that she was stabbed four times. I didn’t know if she was alive or dead,” said Pinto.

Police tell us that AJ DaRosa attacked Savoy with a knife, before George Heath, a teacher in New Bedford stepped in possibly saving her while giving up his own life.

"I think of him as a hero,” said Pinto.

Savoy was med-flighted to RI Hospital after being stabbed. Pinto rushed to her side.

"I said baby I love you and I gave her a kiss on the forehead and she said Heidi please don’t touch me but that’s like her joking and then I said I’m sorry baby I love you and she said I love you too,” said Pinto.

In the wake of the unimaginable, this friend just wants some answers including why the deranged suspect was let out of the psych ward at Morton Hospital.

Pinto says Savoy was a very hard worker, who was only trying to do her job and help support her daughter.

"She is a wonderful person. She is all about her daughter. And everything is about her. She works really hard that’s what she was doing picking up an extra shift, she usually doesn’t work Tuesday’s,” said Pinto.

Pinto tells ABC 6 News that Savoy underwent surgery on Tuesday. She says it went well. She was not able to provide an update on the baby.
