This year’s U.S. Olympic team of rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline will be selected in Providence during the 2016 USA Gymnastics Championships held at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in June.
The 2016 USA Gymnastics Championships is the Olympic selection event for rhythmic gymnastics and men’s and women’s trampoline, and pending U.S. Olympic Committee approval, the Olympians will be selected on June 12.
The event itself runs from June 8-13 at the Dunk and Rhode Island Convention Center.
Athletes will be selected based on their performances.
“We hope sports fans in Providence will come to the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on June 12 and cheer on our top trampoline and rhythmic gymnasts who are vying for Olympic berths,” said Steve Penny, president of USA Gymnastics. “Providence is the first of three cities that have the distinct honor of hosting events where the members of the 2016 Olympic Gymnastics Team will be named. Seeing talented athletes achieve their dream of making an Olympic team is an incredible experience, and the folks in Providence have the chance to see it first-hand.”
