After weeks of speculation about a potential campaign visit to Rhode Island, Donald Trump made it official Monday. The Republican front runner held a campaign rally at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick.

"So we said what about Rhode Island? ‘Oh that’s okay Mr. Trump. You’re doing so well in Rhode Island. You don’t have to bother.’ I said, I’m bothering!"

Hundreds gathered to see Mr. Trump speak. The first few people in line told ABC6 that they slept over at the hotel to ensure they made it in.

"I really think Trump will make a difference," said one supporter.

"He’s not a politician. He’s just like everybody else," said Kayla Cabral, another supporter.

"From what I’ve see. He’s the best guy to do it and make it happen," said Jim Auclair of Warwick.

In true Trump fashion the presidential hopeful let the other candidates have it. He started with name calling.

"I will beat Hillary Clinton–crooked Hillary– so badly," Trump told the crowd.

That was followed by some teasing meant for his rival, Gov. John Kasich.

"I’ve never seen a human being eat in such a disgusting fashion."

Protests are not uncommon at Trump rally’s and Monday’s was no different. Within the first 10 minutes of him taking the stage several people had to be removed.

"I actually believe they do not love our country," said Trump once the boo’s stopped.

Overall decided voters, like local college student Doug Kingsley, who got his poster signed by Trump, say the rally lived up to expectations.

"I can’t get over the energy that’s in the room when he speaks," said Kingsley. "I personally am a big, big fan."

Trump is the second republican candidate to visit the Ocean State within the last week. Kasich held a Town Hall at Bryant University in Smithfeld Saturday. As for Ted Cruz? His campaign schedule places him elsewhere over the next few days.
