Barrington Middle School

BARRINGTON, R.I. (WLNE)- Barrington Schools announced to those in their community that they have been approved to participate in “Test to Stay” for all unvaccinated students from grades PK to 6.

Test to Stay is only available to those who have been deemed a close contact due to COVID-19 exposure in a school setting. This will allow individuals who were deemed a close contact to take a rapid antigen COVID-19 test each day and not miss any school. Anyone who tests positive will not be allowed to remain in school.

They will also be able to participate in Test to Stay for school-sponsored activities on the weekend, but individuals who are a close contact must quarantine from any non school related event.

Those deemed a close contact will have to take a test for a minimum of seven days after exposure. If a student is exposed again, the process restarts.

This is only available to students who have not been fully vaccinated, those who have received only their first dose may still participate.

Test to Stay does not change any quarantine guidelines and suggestions once someone does test positive.
