WOONSOCKET, RI –  More than 40 names are printed on Captain Michael Lemoine’s Boston marathon running t–shirt; all of which have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and are giving the Woonsocket Police Captain Michael Lemoine that “extra push” to finish.

"My donors – I ask them, if you know somebody with Alzheimer’s, I would be more than happy to have their names printed on my shirt to raise awareness for everybody,” said Captain Lemoine, holding up the shirt proudly.

This is the second time the captain will take on the marathon. Each time has been to raise money and awareness for those with Alzheimer’s disease. He explained to ABC6 News that it’s a cause that hits close to home. His father–in–law, and two aunts were diagnosed.

"I think everyone that is running with the Alzheimer’s association has that personal connection,” said Captain Lemoine.

He isn’t alone. He’s part of a dedicated group of 35, running together and raising more than $450,000. "It’s not just the individual that’s going out running. It really is a team effort."

Captain Lemoine has been training since November, and hopes to break 3 hours, 45 minutes.

"I feel good! I feel good. The training is done; there is nothing more you can do other than rest, good nutrition and hydration. I think the night before is usually a sleepless night… just nerves,” said the captain.
