2 suspects in custody following stabbing, assault

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Two suspects are in police custody following a stabbing and assault Saturday evening.

Police say a man and a woman are being questioned but there’s no word on any charges.

Police responded to Chapin Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. for a report of a woman stabbed in the back.

Responding officers also found a man who had been hit in the arm with a baseball bat.

Police say both victims were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Their identities haven’t been released.
