PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Former President Bill Clinton is in Rhode Island to support the Democratic presidential run of his wife, Hillary Clinton.
He is scheduled to speak on Thursday at the Community College of Rhode Island in Warwick.
Bill Clinton is the first major political figure to campaign in Rhode Island in the weeks ahead of the state’s April 26 presidential primary. It’s unclear whether Hillary Clinton or any other Democratic or Republican candidates plans to campaign personally in the state.
Hillary Clinton and her Democratic rival, Vermont U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, both recently opened campaign offices in the state.
State Rep. Joseph McNamara, a Warwick Democrat and chairman of Clinton’s state campaign, says the Clintons have a strong following in Rhode Island.
