Four Providence Police officers are running this year’s Boston Marathon for a very special cause. They’re running for the charity "Cops for Kids with Cancer,” which donates money directly to families in need.
The officers held a fundraiser Saturday, trying to give back as much as they can to the children battling cancer.
"It is very rewarding when you know you’re running not to win it because you know you’re not going to win it but you’re running, you’re raising money for a good cause and we’ve seen it we’ve seen families go up to our police station and receive that check,” said Officer John Benros, one of the Providence Police officers running in the marathon.
Last year, the officers raised $25,000 for the charity. They’re hoping to beat that this year.
