Two indicted for New Years Eve New Bedford murder

Two men have been indicted in the New Years Eve murder of a New Bedford man.

Angel Acevedo, 24, and Aaron Bookman, 23, both of New Bedford, are charged with the murder 24-year-old Aaron Gant Jr. They are also charged with carrying an illegal firearm and assault and battery by means of a firearm.

Gant was shot on Grinnell Street near the intersection to Pleasant Street at around 7:00 p.m. on December 31.

Both Bookman and Acevedo were arrested in January on lesser charges in connection to the murder.

Both men remain in custody and an arraignment date has yet to be scheduled.
