A 1988 Harley Davidson, is considered a treasure to Megan Mahan. It’s a bike she and her sister grew up on. It belonged to her father Mike Mahan, who passed away from liver failure last year. She says it was her fathers most cherished possession. So much so, after he passed away they had a vile of his ashes woven into the saddlebag of the bike.
"He left it for us to enjoy him and honestly it is the closest we feel to him is on the back of that bike,"says Mahan.
Mahan and her family had dropped the bike off at adrenaline cycle in Swansea to have work done. But, over the weekend she received news the bike had been stolen.
"We lost him just over a year ago in 2015 and honestly it’s like loosing him all over again," says Mahan.
"It was in our Dyno trailer which tests the horsepower of the motorcycle in the back of our building secured with locks, someone had broken into the back of the trailer and stole the actual motorcycle right off the machine as well as damaging the equipment," says Justin Torres, Owner of Adrenaline Cycle.
Torres says another trailer was also broken into, where thieves had stolen a couple thousand dollars worth of other equipment as well.
"this would be the first motorcycle that has ever been stolen from here, in 15 years," he says.
Torres says the motorcycle it self is only worth a few thousand dollars, but after learning more about the family’s connection to the bike he’s urging the anyone with information to come forward. Even offering a 2,000 dollar reward.
"It is very important that these people get caught and that this motorcycle is returned. It is more important to the customer than it is to a thief or money or parts or whatever."
