Gas station robbery suspect caught

New Bedford Police arrested a suspect in connection with a gas station robbery at the HI-LO gas station on 2790 Acushnet Ave. at approximately 10pm last night.
Mark Omer Desrosiers, 26 of 201 Ashley Blvd was arrested around 1am in the 1200 block of Church St after officers responded to the area regarding suspicious activity and found Desroisers, who matched the description of the robbery suspect, and placed him under arrest.
The suspect entered the store wearing a black ski mask and sunglasses while armed with a knife. He demanded money and took the entire cash tray and fled on foot. Witnesses followed him to Victoria St where the cash tray was found on the sidewalk. The ski mask, gloves, sunglasses, and some clothing was recovered from a relative’s home the suspect initially fled to,. The knife used in the robbery was recovered at the scene.
Desrosiers is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford district court on a charge of armed robbery while masked.
