As of tonight, the state of Rhode Island officially has a new slogan attached to it.

It’s part of an effort to rebrand with the goal of boosting tourism and business.

The slogan is: ‘Rhode Island: cooler and warmer’. It’s a new campaign geared toward revitalizing the economy for the first time in years.

Even with its beautiful beaches, Rhode Island has certainly struggled to fully promote itself, as a vacation destination in the past. But the goal is to make that change.

This past fall the Commerce board created this cooler and warmer campaign to raise the states profile and advance economic growth.

Along with the campaign comes a new Visit Rhode Island website, paid advertising on search engines, and travel sites like Google, TripAdvisor, and Expedia.

A stronger social media presence on Facebook and Twitter is also part of the initiative.

Governor Raimondo addressed the slogan this evening, saying it captures the "cool" social vibe and warm climate, as well as inviting culture.

She hopes it’ll drive people to want to visit.

Gov. Raimondo says, "You know we want everyone to have the same love for Rhode Island that we do. We know our beaches are terrific, our restaurants are great, our cities are wonderful, so let’s tell the rest of the world, get people to come here, spend money and boost our economy."

‘Cooler and Warmer’ will ideally bring in more people and boost the economy, and also hopefully put Rhode Islanders back to work.
