The defending state champion LaSalle boys basketball team beating East Providence to open the new season Friday, 70-62. Lawrence Sabir led the way for the Rams with 26 points.

Hendricken earning a win in its opener over Cranston West, 72-40.

The North Providence boys taking down Central Falls, 81-70. Alex Silva scoring 27 points.

In girls basketball action Friday, Juanita Sanchez beating Woonsocket, 60-41.

In their first Hockomock game of the season, the Attleboro girls earning the win over Franklin, 48-43.
