New Bedford police investigate shooting, stabbing

Police in New Bedford are investigating a shooting and stabbing that happened within two hours apart, in broad daylight.
A 32-year-old man was shot twice in the legs. The victim says it was by someone he knows.
It happened at approximately 11:30 a.m. on the north end of Sawyer Street.
A motive is unknown at this time.
The man was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Detectives are working on identifying the suspect
Then around 1 p.m., a 26-year-old man was stabbed in the chest and stomach during an argument with another man at the corner of Salisbury and David Streets. The victim was sent to Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition.
