Recall on Liberty Hardware metal plates

Liberty Hardware is recalling decorative metal wall plates, citing they are a fire hazard.

The recalled plates can dislodge from the back plate and short-circuit the outlet, posing a risk of electrical shock or fire.

The product has two plates inside of that are attached by hidden fasteners: a back plate that screws into the wall like a normal wall plate, and then another decorative cover that snaps on with spring clips. They have a smooth, metallic finish, and under the decorative plate, they are stamped with the letters “LHMC.”

The company received reports of two short circuits when the decorative plate dislodged from the back plate, and touched an energized plug. There have been no injuries.

Liberty Hardware encourages consumers to remove the plates from their wall and contact them for a full refund at 844-811-4541.
