PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The CDC has released a statement warning that thirteen people from six different states were infected with E. coli. Four were hospitalized, one person had a type of kidney failure called hemolytic uremic syndrome. There have been no fatalities.

The true number of infected people is likely higher than the number reported due to the fact people can recover without medical care and don’t get tested for E. coli. Data from Epidemiologists reveal the source of the E. coli contamination may be from Simple Truth Organic Power Greens and Nature’s Basket Organic Power Greens.

The CDC is advising people not to eat Simple Truth Organic Power Greens and Nature’s Basket Organic Power Greens with “best if used by” dates through December 20. For information on how to dispose of contaminated food and thorough cleaning of your refrigerator, visit the CDC website here.
