President Bill Clinton made a quick stop in New Bedford to campaign for his wife as voters in eleven states go to the polls Tuesday.
A busy Super Tuesday in Massachusetts as voters flock to the polls. Hillary Clinton sending out her secret weapon in New Bedford as she works to maintain momentum in the Bay State.
"She’s the one who’s going to make the change that I want to see for America," says Clinton supporter and New Bedford resident, Shane Burgo.
Hillary campaigned in Massachusetts Monday, as did democrat Bernie Sanders. She has much of the democratic establishment in Mass behind her, while Sanders is banking on support from college-age voters.
"He’s the first politician I think I can trust in a really long time," says Sanders supporter, Ian Langlois, of New Bedford.
Republican voters have five candidate to choose from, with Donald Trump holding a solid lead in most polls.
"He’s a business guy. He gets things done," says Trump reporter, Joseph Rapoza, of Dartmouth.
Massachusetts republicans have 42 delegates at stake.
"It’s a good test on whether they really have an appeal beyond what they can generate with really intensive campaigning in one place," said Dr. Douglas Roscoe of UMass Dartmouth.
But a Super Tuesday loss for fringe candidates may not mean throwing in the towel just yet.
"It’s pretty late for some of these fringe candidates to still be in the race and even winning," says Roscoe.
Massachusetts’ Secretary of State is predicting a strong voter turnout, especially among republicans.
Most polling locations are open until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
