Hillary Clinton was named the winner of the Massachusetts Democratic primary around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night. It was a very close race with Clinton beating out Bernie Sanders by a few points in the Bay State.

Donald Trump was named the winner early on Tuesday night, as expected.

Around a dozen Hillary Clinton supporters gathered at Mediterranean Grill in Taunton to watch the results come in. The crowd was quite pleased with the big wins for the former Secretary of State.

Earlier Tuesday, President Bill Clinton spent time in the state stumping at multiple locations including New Bedford and Taunton.

"I’m very pleased with the results this evening, it shows a candidate that is truly national in scope. That has concrete plans for how she would govern," said State Senator Marc Pacheco.

Bernie Sanders supporters were also out in force in Massachusetts this Super Tuesday. A local supporter told ABC6 why he thought Sanders is the best candidate for president.

"He’s the first politician that I feel that I can trust in a really long time. It’s my first time being involved in the political machine and he’s really brought me out," said Ian Langlois.

On the Republican side, the race in the Bay State was called for Donald Trump minutes after polls closed.

Supporters packed into his Easton office to watch the results. The mood where was very upbeat with several major wins.

"It’s no surprise. The response here in Massachusetts has been fantastic," said one supporter.

"There’s been so much enthusiasm by the people of Massachusetts for Donald Trump that it comes as no surprise that he’s taken the state," said another.

"Very happy right now. I was hoping–I was very confident that Trump would get the nomination."
