Providence Firefighters sue city over sick leave

Providence firefighters say the city is punishing them for taking time off to care for their children and sick family members.

The union is now suing the city on behalf of seven firefighters who took time off under the Family Medical Leave Act.

The suit was filed in U.S. District Court earlier this week.

They claim Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare is interfering with member who exercise theirs rights since the city reorganized its platoon structure on August 2.
