Providence Police investigate multiple overnight stabbings

Providence Police are investigating multiple stabbings that occurred in the city overnight.
Police were first called to a home on Elmwood Avenue at around midnight Thursday for a reported double stabbing.
Once on scene, police found a 19-year-old female and a 51-year-old female with non-life threatening stab wounds. Both were transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
Police say a short time later, they found 19-year-old Joseph Vargas running unclothed down Reservoir Avenue. He has been charged with simple assault and resisting arrest in connection to the stabbings. Police say more charges could be pending.
At around 6 a.m., police responded to two more stabbings.
In the first, police arrived on Hartford Avenue where they found two victims, a 19-year-old male and a 20-year-old male, with non-life threatening injuries. Police say them men were uncooperative.
Police were also called to Atwells Avenue a short time later where they found a male with non-life-threatening stab wounds. Police say he was also uncooperative.
Both incidents are under investigation.
